What you can expect from our reporting, and an honest account of how an independent journal keeps its lights on.
Last updated: 12 March 2026.
Gourmet Voyageurs is published by Gourmet Voyageurs Media LLC, an independent media company based in Nashville, Tennessee. This page explains the principles behind our writing and the commercial arrangements that fund it. We keep it deliberately plain, because a disclosure that nobody can understand is not really a disclosure at all.
Our guides, essays and recommendations are written without interference from advertisers, affiliate partners, restaurants, hotels, tourism boards or any other outside party. No one outside our editorial team sees a guide before it is published, and no commercial relationship can earn, alter or remove a recommendation. When we tell you a dish is worth a flight, it is because our writers ate it and believed it — not because anyone paid for the placement.
We report first-hand. Our writers visit the cities and eat in the places we cover, paying for their own meals as ordinary customers. We do not accept complimentary meals, hosted trips or gifts "in exchange for coverage," and we do not publish sponsored content disguised as editorial. For complex destinations we try to return more than once, and ideally in more than one season, before drawing conclusions. Prices and opening hours are checked as close to publication as we can manage, but the world changes — always confirm the essentials before you travel.
We work hard to get things right and we correct mistakes promptly and visibly. If you spot an error — a closed restaurant, a changed price, a misspelled dish — please write to editor@gourmetvoyageurs.com and we will investigate. Substantive corrections are noted on the relevant article so readers can see what changed and when.
Our articles are written and edited by people. We may use software tools to check spelling, suggest headlines or process images, but the reporting, the opinions and the recommendations are human, and a named editor is responsible for every piece we publish.
Gourmet Voyageurs is reader-supported and advertising-supported. We fund the journal in three transparent ways, and we want you to understand all of them:
That is the complete picture. If an arrangement ever changes, we will update this page. We would always rather lose a little revenue than your trust.
We collect as little personal data as possible and we never sell it. For the full details — what we collect, why, and how to ask us to delete it — see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Questions about our standards, a pitch, or a correction are all welcome.
